WELCOME TO THE CUSHMAN SCHOOL'S DMF WALKABOUT AUTISM TEAM PAGE!

Join The Cushman School in Dan Marino Foundation's 3rd Annual Walk About Autism!  The Cougars need your support!  Please either join our team for a fun-filled day at Sun Life Stadium on January 26, 2013 at 9am or consider donating whatever amount you are comfortable with towards our team.  Some of our teachers will be walking, so support us in making a difference! Different from other community events, this event contributes 25% of all money we raise directly to our school.  Registration is free, in case you are interested in joining our team and walking with us on that day.

Why we need your help:

There is no known cause or cure for autism.  It is the fastest-growing developmental disorder, and according to the Center for Disease Control, 1 in 88 children in the United States have autism.  Autism usually appears in early childhood, before the age of 3.  Though symptoms and severity vary, autism affects a child's ability to communicate and interact with others. Intensive, early treatment can make a big difference in the lives of many children with autism and enable them to achieve independence later in life.  Currently, 90% of adults with autism are unemployed which is a startling statistic! That is why I am asking for your support.  Monies raised will provide much-needed resources to our community-based programs, services, and schools.
