Ireland's Lucky Charms

WELCOME OUR TEAM PAGE -- Ireland's Lucky Charms

I can’t believe that this is the 7th Annual Dan Marino Walkabout Autism and the first year that the Irelands won’t physically be there! We are just so proud of this event and it has been amazing to watch it grow over the last 7 years raising awareness to the cause and over $3 million dollars!

The reason that we can’t make it this year is because Haley and Hannah (our beautiful twin girls both affected with autism) have a conflict having started college classes this week at Southeastern Louisiana University (through NTCC Connect to Success program)! This is yet another huge milestone for these amazing Ireland girls and we couldn’t be more proud!

Haley and Hannah are also very busy this weekend and the next few weeks volunteering their time with Nola Arts to help prepare a group of young children and teens with special needs to make their big debut in a Mardi Gras parade “ The Intergalactic Krewe of Chewbaccus” . Mardi Gras season is a big part of the New Orleans culture and a lot of fun for families, so it’s a great cause to be able to get these special kiddos involved and excited about all the fun. As they say in New Orleans……We don’t hide our crazy….We celebrate it and parade it down the street!” And do they ever!

And speaking of a big Mardi Gras celebration…..well Dan Marino Foundation WalkAbout Autism is similar in some ways. It’s a big celebration and parade where families and individuals affected with autism can come out and celebrate their unique differences and they can celebrate because of the new awareness that is being raised as well as the much needed funds all to help improve the lives of those living with Autism.

We have been so blessed by the wonderful support and programs that Haley and Hannah were able to receive during our time in South Florida and we will forever be grateful! The girls were lucky enough to go to the summer camp last year and have hopes of attending the new and amazing Marino Campus in the near future!

Thank you for your support whether it be through prayers, financial contributions, joining the walk or even just taking the time to come to our team page and this website to learn more about the great things that are happening in the autism community and how you can help.

Thank You!

Jeff, Rachel, Haley, Hannah, Riley and Annie

The Dan Marino Foundation WalkAbout Autism & Expo, brought to you by Walgreens, presented by Badia Spices, will be held Saturday January 21, 2017 at Miami Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Florida. This is a great opportunity for us to work together and make a difference in the lives of the Autism Community.

Proceeds raised through this effort will support local South Florida organizations, including hundreds of participating local schools as well as The Dan Marino Foundation. What is really important to me is that all money raised here, stays here in South Florida!

Why we need your help:

There is no known cause or cure for autism.  It is the fastest-growing developmental disorder, and according to the Center for Disease Control, 1 in 68 children in the United States have autism. Currently, 83% of adults with autism are unemployed which is a startling statistic! That is why I am asking for your support.  Monies raised will provide much-needed resources to our community-based programs, services, and schools.
